Colonic Irrigation

Colonic irrigation , also called colonic hydrotherapy, is a modification of enema treatment, which is when flushing the bowel with water occurs; the water is varied in quantity, temperature and pressure. A tube is inserted in the rectum, water is sent through the tube either alone or with added enzymes, coffee, probiotics or herbs. Treatment sessions usually last about one hour. During a high colonic treatment session, water goes in through one tube in the colon and is removed along with debris by way of another tube called an obturator.

Colonic Irrigation is used to treat:

• Asthma

• Arthritis

• Back pain

• Fatigue

• Influenza

• Insomnia

• Skin problems

• Shingles

• Strengthening the colon muscle

Colonic Irrigation Procedure

When the procedure begins, you will lay on your back with your knees bent, you may feel some pressure when the doctor inserts the speculum, there is no pain, but it is uncomfortable. You may feel minimal pressure in your stomach, combined with a sensation of ‘butterflies' when the irrigation process starts.

Because the system is completely enclosed, you don't have to worry about nasty odors leaking out of the exam room. Your doctor will also apply special massage therapies in the stomach region to encourage the release of the waste material. Once the procedure is completed, your doctor will apply a high potency, pro-biotic wash to

refurbish the positive bowel flora.

Following Treatment

You can return to work immediately following your procedure. Your doctor may suggest that you have a second session performed 1-2 weeks following the first.

If you are interested in having a colonic irrigation procedure done you should contact a health care professional in your area today.
