green light
Michelle Kaufmann, AIA, partnered with Flux, a Seattle-based industrial design studio, to create Vessel. The snazzy, energy-efficient light fixture comprises a slender, blown-glass cylinder that doubles as a vase and a powder-coated metal base that casts light from both ends. Vessel shines most brightly—diffusing either fluorescent or LED light—when left empty, but it can also infuse a space with texture and color if filled with marbles, liquid, or foliage. teak performance
If you want to spec teak with a clear conscience, look no further than East Teak. The Dallas-based supplier offers 100 percent recycled, responsibly reclaimed lumber certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. The dark-colored, close-grained wood is available in 1-inch to 4-inch thicknesses and widths of 2 inches to 8 inches. East Teak Fine Hardwoods, 972.248.0078; www.eastteak.com .

metal-worthy
Two easily recyclable materials come together in one beautiful tile collection by Erin Adams. Handcrafted from recycled aluminum with purple or vermilion glass insets, Luna is available in 36 style and color variations, in sizes ranging from 1 inch by 6 inches to 6 inches square. Adams' eco-conscious ethos isn't limited to the design studio: recycled car oil heats the metal during producing.
