Roofing manufacturers are working to make their products more resistant to weather and impact. “Demand for impact-resistant products is increasing among building professionals, homeowners, and insurers, particularly in the central United States,” says Rick Brinton, director of national accounts for CertainTeed's Roofing Products Group. Installers should make sure they're keeping track of any new techniques that might accompany these new products. The original Landmark series laminated shingle has been amplified with a 1½-inch nailing area, decreasing the chance of misapplied fasteners and shingle slides.
